Enchanted

Enchanted is a magical place that may only exist for the moment you see it.  Have you ever been walking in the woods and spot a truly enchanting space? – yet when you go back to look for it to show someone……….it has vanished!  It was only meant for you, at that particular time.

Working Together

Working TogetherWorking Together shows a mist that is clearing slowly as therapy was well underway.  Colours were appearing from having been in the depths of destruction for a few years.  I owe this one to my therapist, whose patience and strength have seen me through…..don’t know how she hasn’t throttled me yet!!

In Spirit

In SpiritIn Spirit is a soft mixture of clouds as they float and melt into one another.  Their presence is steady though ever changing, representing the impermanence of all conditioned objects and all living beings.  However, there is an everlasting quality which symbolises our spirit after it has experienced human occupancy,  and makes it’s inbound journey back home to the universe.

Rapture

RaptureRapture led me out of the often occurring frustrations which happen when a painting comes to a seemingly dead end.  No amount of pondering will take you to the next stage – you either ‘step away’ from the painting or persevere – usually both, in that order!  The painting then calls you back when it is ready, and literally shows you which brushstroke goes where.

Volcano

VolcanoVolcano is part of the Bournemouth Series 1999, and played it’s part in my degree show at Southampton Solent University.  The volcanic-like appearance flows with the dark waves of the ocean, along with the absorption of visiting this place in the early hours of the morning.

Night Sea

Night SeaNight Sea was conceived on Bournemouth beach at around midnight in 1999, and posed as one of the pieces in my degree show.  A preliminary canvas was subject to the magical atmosphere that only the ocean at night can provide.  This final piece was created once back in the studio at university.

Rimini Heat

Rimini HeatRimini Heat holds the breath-taking landscape of the Italian countryside and is the fourth painting in the Rimini Series.  A very happy space to be in physically and mentally.  This months journey around Italy was a contemplative spiritual convalescence.
