Fantasy Land

Sunny MomentsFantasy Land is the third painting of the Rimini Series and was conceived while travelling on the train from Milano to Rimini.  The heat was easy to absorb as this part of Italy was having an unusually extra hot summer that year, as temperatures soared into the forties (just the way I like it!).

Modelling paste and glass beads are the texture which gives this painting a tactile finish.

Cosy Cream

Brighter DaysCosy Cream was inspired by the top of a hot chocolate I had ordered in a restaurant.  The froth which had mixed with the chocolate was almost too perfect to disturb.  The milk had eased into the froth, blending shades of umber and hazel, spreading into tasty creams, fawns and schlor lor lur luurrrr!!! Delicious, wrapping my hands wrapped around this warm little cup of cosiness.

Holiday Dreams

Holiday Dreams Holiday Dreams is part of the Swedish Series 2012.  A blossoming romance led me to Sweden where a beautiful home existed on a magical land by a lake.

This house was surrounded by trees of a vast forest where all types of mushroom and berries grew.

Trying to remember

Trying to RememberOften, when I look across a landscape, or through a woodland, or rolling hills or the sky at night, I get a feeling that I am looking at something of which I am trying to remember; as though I have seen it before somewhere somehow.  I can’t quite remember what it is that I’m remembering!  Until recently, I never knew, though now I have come to know, that I am looking beyond the recognition of the landscape, and am entering the place of energy  – beyond form and identity.

Medieval Blue

Medieval BlueMedieval Blue is one of those art works where the universe gave a contribution in the form of a ghostlike figure in the top right hand corner which appears to be looking or sweeping down over what’s below.  I hadn’t noticed this until a friend pointed it out!  Presents from the universe come every so often in my artwork and everyday life,  to which I feel very grateful for.

Quietly confident

Quietly confidentQuietly Confident is a strong piece of work in the sense that I was confident with every brushstroke, colour and texture.  It emerged through the darkness on it’s own- I only guided the light to the surface.

Brighter Days

BrokenBrighter Days is the first painting of the Rimini Series.  After a month spent in Italy visiting family, it almost painted itself when I returned to the studio!  It was BURSTING with energy and almost on fire as it heated up the canvas and gave birth to the ‘Rimini Series‘.

It is full of the sights, smells, sounds and romance of the experience.

Dreams

DreamsDreams was conceived whilst sailing down the backwaters of Kerala, Southern India in 2004.  An eight hour boat journey from Kochin upon a world of water; junctions made of water; pathways of water leading up to doorways to houses; a truly magical land on water.

Tons of jelly fish; children waving and playing; endless flanks of palm trees lined the periphery; the sky; the sunset; the clouds.
